Adler’s Appetite For Touring

02:01 PM Friday 7/2/10 |   |

Steven Adler, late of Guns N’ Roses and VH1’s “Sober House” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” takes his band, Adler’s Appetite, out on the road this summer with plans for more than 40 shows by the time the itinerary is finalized.

Usually, a band goes on the road to hype its latest CD. Adler’s Appetite, according to a band spokesman, is instead pounding the pavement in support of Adler’s tell-all bio that is being released in July.

Sure beats a stuffy old book tour stop at the local Barnes & Noble.

And no doubt the former GNR drummer has plenty to say about not only the foibles of his ex-band in its early days, but his own trials and tribulations as a notorious drug addict with a measure of fame.

“My Appetite For Destruction: Sex, Drugs & Guns N’ Roses,” hits bookstores July 27, published by Harper Collins.

The tour kicks off July 9 at The Brixton in Redondo Beach, Calif., and makes stops in Santa Ana, Calif.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Madison and Milwaukee, Wis.; Syracuse, N.Y.; Baltimore; Philadelphia; New York; Pittsburgh; and Kansas City, Mo., before swinging back to California for a few stops on the old stomping grounds, including the Sunset Strip Music Festival and Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood.

The group is made up of members of bands that were near-royalty on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip during the club scene’s hair-and-metal glory days.

In addition to Adler on drums, the band comprises guitarists Alex Grossi (Quiet Riot) and Michael Thomas (Faster Pussycat), bassist Chip Z’nuff (Enuff Z’nuff) and vocalist Rick Stitch (Lady Jack).

“We are really looking forward to getting back out there and playing some new material,” Adler said. “As much as we love doing all the old GN’R stuff, which of course we will continue to do, it will be nice to show the fans that there is so much more to this band than what people have seen.”
