The inaugural Rock ‘N Rev festival, scheduled for Aug. 9-13 to coincide with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, has announced a location change and the addition of Guns N’ Roses and Daughtry to its lineup.
The festival will be at Monkey Rock USA in Sturgis near the Glencoe CampResort, which was the festival site until recently.
Daniel E. Catullo III, founder of festival producer DC3 Global, told Pollstar in a statement a report in the Rapid City Journal saying Glencoe officials pulled out because Rock ‘N Rev hadn't paid the rent is, but isn’t, true.
“We moved from Glencoe for a myriad of reasons, but not for financial ones. Yes, we never paid rent but that was because we never had a lease,” Catullo said. “If a lease would have been presented, rent would have been paid. We could not come to terms with the landlord, thus the reason for the move.”
As to a report that a shed for the event hasn't been built yet, that's another misunderstanding.
Catullo said a custom-built shed – dubbed the Rock 'N Rev Amphitheatre – is under construction at the 25-acre site at Monkey Rock USA. But any report that suggests the amphitheatre won't be built in time for the August event is being dramatic – putting stages into fields happens all the time.
“We have the best people in the business on board here ranging from Paul Chavarria, our production manager, and Steve Kidd, our festival director,” he explained. “We already broke ground setting the venue up and our stage will be built a week out from the first show.”
Tickets purchased for the Glencoe site will be honored at the new location and Glencoe and Rock ‘N Rev officials are said to be coordinating VIP accommodations for Glencoe campers, the statement said.
The fest also features Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots,Godsmack, Skillet, 3 Doors Down, Hinder,Three Days Grace, Wolfmother, Eagles Of Death Metal, Hellyeah and Creed.
