Deadmau5 Gets Busy

The electronic artist with the mouse ears adds MTV VMA “house artist” to his career resume while filling up his October calendar with several new bookings.

The house artist gig means Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, will serve as the VMA’s “musical maestro” creating original remixes for the Sept. 12 event at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. MTV is also featuring Deadmau5 as its PUSH (Play It Until Someone Hears) artist all this week.

The artist has added several shows to his October schedule, including Atlanta at The Tabernacle Oct. 1; London, Ont., at the London Music Hall Oct. 2; Atlantic City at Harrah’s Atlantic City Oct. 3; Denver at the Fillmore Auditorium Oct. 6-7; Seattle at Paramount Theatre Oct. 13; Las Vegas at Body English Oct. 15; Madison, Wis., at Orpheum Theatre Oct. 19; Minneapolis at Epic Event Center Oct. 20 and Ypsilanti, Mich., at the EMU Convocation Center Oct. 25.

One of the highlights of Deadmau5’s October run is three nights at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom Oct. 28-30 plus his Halloween appearance at this year’s Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans Oct. 31. Previously announced dates include his appearance at Austin City Limits Music Festival Oct. 9, the Cypress Hill SmokeOut in San Bernardino, Calif., Oct. 16 and the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco, also Oct. 16.

Deadmau5 is busy in the virtual world as well, starring as an in-game character in Activision’s DJ Hero 2 which also includes his song “Ghosts ‘n Stuff.
