Manic Street Preachers Postpone Shows

01:01 PM Thursday 10/28/10 |   |

The Manic Street Preachers have been forced to postpone the rest of this week’s gigs to allow singer/guitarist James Dean Bradfield to recover from a case of acute laryngitis.

Doctors say Bradfield needs time off to rest his voice.

“I would like to personally apologise to the fans,” Bradfield wrote in a statement posted on the British alternative rock band’s website. “Nothing makes us feel worse than having to postpone a show. We were particularly looking forward to playing two nights at Brixton as we have such special memories of previous gigs at this venue. To say we are gutted about this situation is putting it mildly!”

The shows would have taken place tonight, Oct. 28, and Friday, Oct. 29, at O2 Academy Brixton in London.

Thursday’s show has been rescheduled for Jan. 21, and Friday’s performance is now set for Jan. 22.

Earlier this week the Manic Street Preachers postponed its Oct. 26 show at O2 Academy Birmingham in Birmingham. The show will now take place Dec. 14.

All tickets will be valid for the corresponding rescheduled dates. Refunds are also available from the points of purchase.

The band is touring in supportive of its tenth studio album, Postcards from a Young Man. The album was released in September on Columbia.

The Manic Street Preachers are set to play De Montfort Hall in Leicester, U.K., on Sunday followed by a Monday gig at Cambridge Corn Exchange. In November the band plays a round of Australian dates in addition to a few gigs in Japan.
