Rock Hall Inductees

04:01 PM Tuesday 12/14/10 |   |

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn’t scheduled to announce its list of 2011 inductees until tomorrow, but somebody has already let the cat out of the bag.

Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Dr. John and Darlene Love are reported to be among the new inductees, according to the New York Times, which notes the list of folks not making the cut – Bon Jovi, Donovan, Laura Nyro, Joe Tex and Chuck Willis – says as much about the Rock Hall as does the list of folks it will honor for all eternity.

Of course, fans of KISS and Rush will continue to point out that neither band has been honored by the Hall. And judging by who the Hall of Fame chooses versus who it ignores, we’re guessing those fans will still have something to complain about next year.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is scheduled to present its official dog-and-pony moment announcing inductees tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time and the induction ceremony is scheduled for March 14 at New York City’s Waldorf-Astoria. For more information, click here for the Hall of Fame’s website.

Good for Mac! It's about time! Only 60 years. Now why is the star of Woodstock not in? This HOF will never have any credibility until Joe Cocker is in!

Congrats to Alice. Long, long, overdue. I'm sure he'll have all surviving original members in tow. They played together two years ago at his Chistmas Pudding charity show as they will again this Saturday night [12/18] in Phoenix. Cool that Donovan's in too. He can sit in with the vocal when they do "Billion Dollar Babies"! Now let's concentrate on the J Geils Band and ignore all this Donna Summer and Beastie Boys horseshit.

I see the so called "VOTERS" of the hall have BASTARDIZED the selections once again!!!!!  Whats next Tony Orlando and Dawn, KC & the sunshine Band, Sonny and Cher??????  You people need a real clue to WHAT ROCK AND ROLL IS ALL ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop inducting the bands you were listening to while playing with the glee club in high school!!!!! Or being stuffed in a locker by the pep squad!! Leave this to the people who know good Rock & roll....  THE FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha!  Of the five inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, only 1 played rock and roll.  I'm sure there is a place somewhere for Darlene Love, but it's not in a R&R HOF.

Bob Seger was inducted in 2004 (the same year as George Harrison, Prince, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne, & Traffic).

I'm glad Alice Cooper made it, it's much deserved. His impact on not only music, but the art of the live performance, is tremendous.

Personal preference would have Donovan going in over Neil Diamond, but I'm not sweating it too bad.

Also, Bob Seger a& The Silver Bullet Band belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It is disappointing to me that he is not in the Hall.

I also agree on Kiss, Styx, Yes, Supertramp, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, Journey, Def Leppard and to a lesser extent Rush (my favorite rock band from Canada is April Wine and of course, they'll never get in - I am pleased they got into the Canadian Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year)), , but IMO the greatest omission of those currently eligible is Bob Seger.

Metallica is in the hall of fame and so is Ozzy and Dio as a member of Black Sabbath and Sammy Hagar as part of Van Halen.
