Blake Shelton Added As ACM Awards Host

04:01 PM Thursday 1/13/11 |   |

Blake Shelton will make his debut as an award show host by sharing duties with Reba at this year’s edition of the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The 46th annual event will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3.

Fans can tune into CBS television network at 8 p.m. ET/delayed PT to catch the show.

“This is an incredibly special moment for me,” Shelton said in a statement. “I am humbled that Reba invited me to co-host the ACM Awards with her. She is not only a mentor to me but a true friend. She continually supports other artists, which is a testament really to her beauty and talent. You will definitely have to tune-in and check it out. With the two of us together on live TV, you never know what we might say!”

Last year Shelton won his first ACM award for vocal event of the year for his No. 1 hit single “Hillbilly Bone,” featuring Trace Adkins.

Reba has snagged a total of 12 ACM Awards including seven trophies for top female vocalist. Her philanthropic work was recognized with the first-ever Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award.

Shelton and Reba teamed up last year to read the nominations for the ACM Awards. Bob Romeo, CEO of the Academy, noted that the duo was “just magic together, incredibly funny.”

Last week the Academy announced that Eric Church, Easton Corbin and Randy Houser were nominated for ACM’s top new solo vocalist award. The Band Perry, the JaneDear girls and Steel Magnolia are competing for Top New Vocal Duo or Group.

Beginning Jan. 27 fans can vote in the newcomer categories via VoteACM.com and GACtv.com/ACM.

A complete list of ACM Awards nominees will be announced next month.
