We wouldn’t blame you if you’re suddenly re-thinking your annual summer vacation in terms of either being in town when Katy Perry arrives or switching your destination to one of the cities on her tour. Perry is one of the biggest singers to arrive on the scene in recent years and so far her career just keeps on hitting new heights.

Her second album, Teenage Dream, has sold five million copies worldwide since it was released in August. The album’s first single, the Snoop Dogg-flavored “California Gurls” was the biggest selling song of 2010 according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Sponsored by Schick Quattro For Women, the North American leg of Perry’s “California Dreams”world tour launches in Atlanta at the Arena at Gwinnett Center June 7 and wraps with two nights in California at the Santa Barbara Bowl Aug. 13-14.

Perry announced her new dates during a live appearance on Facebook and plans to use social media networks to interact with fans throughout the tour. Fans hoping to snag special treats can check in to the venues each night via Facebook Places/Deals.

Fans will also be able to submit their own photos of each show via Twitter with some of the photos to be used in the live show as well as on Perry’s website.

Ticket presales begin this weekend with general onsales beginning next week. Perry has also partnered with I Love All Access for VIP packages. For more information, check out KatyPerry.com, her Twitter page, MySpace home and Facebook abode.
