Silverstein, Bayside Are Ready To ‘Take Action’

04:01 PM Monday 2/14/11 |   |

This year’s “Take Action Tour” is all about sex. Now that we have your attention, please look inside for details, lineup, dates and, well, more s-e-x.

The “Take Action Tour” has always been dedicated to raising awareness about teen issues and helping out youth organizations. Created by Hopeless Records and its charitable arm Sub City, this year’s tour features headliners Silverstein and Bayside along with Polar Bear Club, The Swellers and Texas in July.

This year’s tour is dedicated to Sex, Etc., which is part of the Teen-to-Teen Sexuality Education Project developed by Answer, a national organization promoting and providing sex education to teens and educators. The Sex, Etc. website features writings by teenagers for teenagers on topics such as relationships, STDs, pregnancy, birth control and sexual orientation. Other features at the Sex, Etc., website are an “Ask The Experts” section, weekly chats with health experts and forums.

“Growing up, every local show we played was a charity show,” Silverstein frontman Shane Told said in a statement announcing the tour. “It was an important part of the scene that we were doing what we loved and more importantly helping others. To step back into that and work with our label to give back, it feels really great. We were a part of the ‘Take Action Tour’ in 2006, and when we had the opportunity to co-headline the tour this year, we jumped at the chance. We couldn’t be more proud to be leading the charge this year with our best friends, Bayside.”

Presented by Hot Topic, the “Take Action Tour” begins at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club April 22; plays Philly’s Electric Factory April 23 and stops in Baltimore for a gig at Ram’s Head Live April 25. Other destinations include Atlanta (April 28), Pensacola (May 2), Houston (May 4), Tulsa (May 7), San Diego (May 11), West Hollywood (May 12), Seattle (May 16), Omaha (May 20), Chicago (May 22) and New York City (May 28).

About 16 percent of Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes, making it one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, U.S. health officials said on Tuesday. Maybe this is the reason that why there are more than 680,000 members on the STD dating site pozmingle//. Hope all the people take care and find love.
