Reinventing DeLuna Fest

06:01 PM Friday 2/25/11 |   |

DeLuna Fest is returning for a second year to Pensacola Beach, Fla., with hopes of shaking up the U.S. festival scene by introducing the country’s “first resort destination music festival.”

The festival takes place Oct. 13-16. A pre-festival pool party will be held Oct. 12.

This year the festival grounds will include three on-site beachfront resort hotels with 675 hotel rooms available at The Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach, The Hilton Pensacola Beach and the Holiday Inn Resort Pensacola Beach.

“Think camping festival, but instead of tents and mud, you have comfortable beds in an air-conditioned room, instead of cold food, there’s room service,” Nicholas Bodkins, founding member of Five Flags Tourism Group, said in a press conference earlier this week, according to Consequence of Sound.

VIP ticket/hotel packages will feature balconies that overlook performance stages. General admission ticketholders who aren’t staying at the hotels will still be able to enjoy the hotels’ pool decks and outdoor activity spaces.

The 2011 event will expand from two stages to six.  A jazz-blues tent is also being added along with a nightly electronic club experience.

Resort hotel packages go on sale March 15. A limited number of early-bird tickets will be available locally April 5 and online April 12.

The lineup will be announced in late May.
