Former Alice In Chains Bassist Dies

04:21 PM Tuesday 3/8/11 | |

Mike Starr, who played in Alice In Chains from 1987 until 1993, has died. He was 44.

Entertainment gossip site TMZ broke the story this afternoon, reporting the musician’s body was discovered in a Salt Lake City home this afternoon.

In addition to his Alice In Chains legacy, Starr was on the third season of “Celebrity Rehab” in 2009. TMZ says the musician was busted last month for possession of a controlled substance and that Salt Lake City police reported he had six Xanax pills and six Opana pills in his possession when arrested.

This is too bad.  I thought he was on his way to a better life after Celebrity Rehab and Sober House but the drugs finally won the battle for Mike's life.  Sad.

RIP Brother!  AIC is one of the best bands to come out of Seattle & you will be missed.  Mike's struggles should show all those following Sheen's tweets that drug addiction should not warrant a blind following and treated seriously and not as a joke.

Hop all is well with his family.
