The 52nd annual festival takes place July 30-31 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, R.I.
The Decemberists perform July 30 along with Gillian Welch, Gogol Bordello, Earl Scruggs, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Tegan and Sara, Mavis Staples and The Felice Brothers.
Saturday’s lineup also includes Delta Spirit, Freelance Whales, The Devil Makes Three and a Song Circle with Dar Williams, Ellis Paul, John Gorka and Liz Queler.
July 31’s lineup features EmmyLou Harris and an acoustic set by Elvis Costello. Additional Sunday acts include Amos Lee, M. Ward, Wanda Jackson, Middle Brother, Justin Townes Earle and Carolina Chocolate Drops.
Fans will also hear from The Civil Wars, The Secret Sisters, The Seeger Clogging Allstars and Mountain Man.
Eco-friendly jewelry designer and manufacturer Alex and Ani is sponsoring the festival’s Harbor Stage in addition to the Newport Jazz Festival Aug. 6-7. The Rhode Island-based company is creating limited edition charms that will be available exclusively at the festivals.
Tickets to the 2011 Newport Folk Festival go on sale Thursday, March 31 at 10 a.m. All seating is general admission and determined on a first-come, first-served basis. This policy applies for both the uncovered lawn at the main stage as well as the folding chair sections at the smaller stages. Fans are encouraged to bring blankets and low-backed beach chairs.
A limited number of adult two-passes will be available for $125. Single-day adult tickets are priced at $69. The price increases to $77 on festival weekend. Children age 3-15 can get into the festival for $15 per day. Children under 3 are free.
