The band announced in 2010 that it wouldn’t tour this year. Word of the “Caravans” came in February when Dave Matthews Band announced it would do four multi-day festivals in 2011. Revealed one month ago, the first “Caravan” takes place in Atlantic City June 24-26.

Now “Caravan” No. 2 details have been released, with DMB and a multitude of acts appearing at Chicago’s “Lakeside” July 8-10.

What’s “Lakeside?” Turns out it’s the former U.S. Steel Southworks, according to the Chicago Tribune’s “Turn It Up” blog which puts the location between 79th and 87th streets in the city’s south side. “Caravan” will be the location’s first musical event. The Dave Matthews Band’s website assures fans that there will be ample onsite parking, a carpool program and that local mass transit lines will have easy access to the site.

While the daily schedules have yet to be worked out, expect Dave Matthews Band to perform each evening. Other acts appearing include David Gray, Ray LaMontagne, O.A.R., Kid Cudi, The Flaming Lips performing Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Amos Lee, Emmylou Harris, Ben Folds, G. Love & Special Sauce, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Gomez, Drive-By Truckers, Daniel Lanois and Black Dub, The Jayhawks, Michael Franti & Spearhead, SOJA, Soulive, The Wailers, Blind Pilot, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, TR3, Vieux Farka Toure, Alberta Cross, Mariachi El Bronx, Bobby Long, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Jeff Coffin & The Mu’tet and Gary Clark Jr.

A pre-sale, including three-day GA tickets, VIP packages, premier parking passes and Chicago hotel rooms is going on now for members of the Dave Matthews Band’s official fan club, The Warehouse. A pre-sale for Citi cardmembers begins April 11 at 10 a.m. through Citi’s Private Pass program. The general onsale begins April 15 at 10 a.m. through DMBCaravan.com. All times CDT.
