Bright Eyes Announce July & August Shows

01:01 PM Thursday 4/7/11 |   |

Bright Eyes’ 2011 world tour keeps growing thanks to another run of U.S. dates.

The indie folk band’s first extensive tour since 2007 began in February with several European performances. The dates coincided with the Feb. 15 release of the group’s seventh studio album. The People’s Key was released on Saddle Creek as the follow-up to 2007’s Cassadaga.

The brand new tour dates kick off July 27 with a free show at Art Park in Lewiston, N.Y.  New shows are booked through an Aug. 8 performance at Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, Iowa.

On July 29 Bright Eyes plays Shelburne Museum in Vermont as part of Ben & Jerry’s Concerts on the Green.

Additional stops include Belknap, N.H. (July 28); Baldwinsville, N.Y. (July 31); Grand Rapids, Mich. (Aug. 3); Indianapolis (Aug. 4) and Columbia, Mo. (Aug. 6).

The Mountain Goats open for Bright Eyes July 27 through Aug. 4.

A pre-sale for the Indianapolis show begins April 14 at 10 a.m. Tickets to the Indianapolis and Des Moines shows go on sale to the public April 15. A pre-sale for the Grand Rapids show begins April 30 with tickets going on sale to the public May 14.

All other tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, April 8.

Bright Eyes play Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on Friday followed by U.S. and Canadian dates booked through June 16. An additional European leg is set for June 19 through July 14 with shows in Germany, France, United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Austria and Netherlands.

The previously announced North American shows include support from Titus Andronicus, Farmer Dave Scher, Jenny And Johnny, Dawes and M. Ward. Bright Eyes open for Death Cab For Cutie May 24-27.

Tune in to NBC Thursday, April 14 to see Bright Eyes perform on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”
