Thurston Moore & Kurt Vile

05:01 PM Tuesday 4/26/11 | |

Thurston Moore has expanded his summer tour plans by announcing a brief co-headline trek with his Matador labelmate Kurt Vile.

Before teaming up with Vile, the Sonic Youth guitarist has a number of solo headline dates and festival appearances to attend to. On May 20 Moore plays Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, followed by a May 31 gig at London’s Union Chapel. He’s also scheduled a July 16 gig at High Noon in Madison, Wis.

Festival appearances include sets at Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Mass., June 25-26, and Pitchfork Music Festival at Chicago’s Union Park, July 15.

Sonic Youth perform Aug. 12 at Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Moore/Vile co-headline trek begins June 18 in Minneapolis at Varsity Theater. Dates are scheduled through a July 30 gig at San Diego’s Casbah.

Additional stops include shows in Vancouver (July 21); Portland, Ore. (July 23); San Francisco (July 26) and West Hollywood, Calif. (July 28-29).

Vile will also be at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival with a July 17 set. He’s also lined up appearances at San Miguel Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain (May 28) and Sled Island Festival in Calgary, Alberta (June 24).

A co-headline trek with Woods is scheduled for July 11-14, along with solo gigs in New York (June 11), Philadelphia (June 12) and Bloomington, Ind. (July 15).

Moore is touring in support of his upcoming album, Demolished Thoughts. The album is set for release on Matador May 24. Vile released his fourth album, Smoke Ring For My Halo, in March.

Tickets for the co-headline tour go on sale beginning April 29. Tickets for the new Sonic Youth date also go on sale Friday.
