Of Weenie Roasts And Hot Summer Jams

02:01 PM Tuesday 5/3/11 |   |

Two major radio stations have released lineups for their annual concert events with Los Angeles-based KROQ revealing Weenie Roast details and New York City’s Hot 97 talking up its Summer Jam. Details after the jump.

Scheduled for June 4 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, Calif., this year’s Weenie Roast will feature Rise Against, The Strokes, Bad Religion, Cage The Elephant, A Day To Remember, Face To Face, Neon Trees, The Airborne Toxic Event, Lykke Li, Foster The People and Young The Giant.

Ticket sales begin with an exclusive onsale for KROQ street team members May 5 at noon (PDT). Check out the radio station’s website for more information.

On the other side of the continent, Hot 97 is spreading the word for its Summer Jam scheduled for June 5 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in E. Rutherford, N.J. This year’s lineup features Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Chris Brown, Birdman, Young Money, Dipset, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Lloyd Banks & Friends, Wiz Khalifa and Waka Flocka.

The radio station is also petitioning the government to declare its annual Summer Jam as a district in itself, specifically District 97, America’s first district of hip hop.

From Hot97.com:

“District 97 is a place where Wiz Khalifa will be judged by the content of his lyrics not be the color of his blonde streak, where Drake can sing or rap without judgement, where Rick Ross can go shirtless without a ‘side eye,’ and where Lil’ Wayne can sip his Styrofoam cup without prejudice.”
