‘Essence’ Day By Day

You probably already know Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West and Mary J. Blige are headlining this year’s Essence Music Festival. But do you know which days Boyz II Men, Chaka Khan, Jill Scott, Trey Songz and George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic are playing? The answers await you after the jump.

Scheduled for July 1-3 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Essence is a multi-day journey serving up empowerment workshops along with plenty of the finest soul, R&B and hip hop on the planet.

Jennifer Hudson headlines the first day of Essence, topping a lineup that also features Fantasia, Boyz II Men, Macy Gray, Dwele, Alexander O’Neal and Cherrelle, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Tank, Miguel, Mavis Staples, and Irma Thomas.

Kanye West headlines Essence July 2. Also appearing will be Jill Scott, Charlie Wilson, Chaka Khan, El DeBarge, Eric Benét, Timothy Bloom, Mint Condition, Hot 8 Brass Band, Stephanie Mills, Charmaine Neville Band, Naughty By Nature, and the To Be Continued Brass Band.
