Friday Festival Updates

05:01 PM Friday 5/6/11 | |

Prince still has nearly a dozen Los Angeles residency dates to announce but in the meantime the singer has added a headline spot at a festival far, far away from the Golden State. Two other festivals have recently added Beyoncé to their lineups.

The Purple One will help Heineken Open’er Festival celebrate its 10th anniversary by performing July 2. The event takes place June 30 through July 3 in Gdynia, Poland with a lineup that also features Coldplay, Pulp, Cut Copy, MIA, The Strokes, Primus, British Sea Power and more.

Prince performs tonight and Saturday at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The weekend shows are his only other dates on the books. In early April Prince announced plans to perform a 21-night residency in Los Angeles. So far all shows have taken place at The Forum. The singer’s previous “Welcome 2 America” dates have taken place in New Jersey, New York and the Carolinas.

Beyoncé is filling up her summer schedule with European shows. Earlier this week T In The Park announced that the pop star would take to the stage July 9. She joins a lineup that features Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Pulp, My Chemical Romance, Deadmau5, Brandon Flowers, Beady Eye and Weezer. The festival is set for July 8-10 at Balado in Kinross, United Kingdom.

The day after playing T In The Park Beyoncé can be found at Oxegen in Naas, Ireland. The festival, which runs July 7-10 at Punchestown Racecourse, also features The Black Eyed Peas, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, The National, Slash, My Chemical Romance and more.

Beyoncé has also added three shows in France including gigs at Nice’s Palais Nikaia (June 20), Lille’s Zenith Arena (June 22) and Amneville’s Sem Amneville Galaxie (June 23).

She was previously announced as one of the big name acts at this year’s edition of Glastonbury Festival. The festival takes place June 24-26 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, United Kingdom, and also boasts U2, Coldplay, Elbow, Morrissey, Paul Simon, BB King, Wu-Tang Clan, Biffy Clyro and more.

Electric Zoo New York is another festival that recently updated his roster to include a DJ set from Moby. The lineup also features Tiesto, David Guetta, Chromeo, Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren and Benny Benassi. The electronic music event takes over the Big Apple Sept. 2-4 at Randalls Island.
