The festival, which comes from the creator of the Secret Garden Party UK, doesn’t exactly take place in New York. Rather, the event is described as the “first pop-up destination community and independent experimental music and lifestyle festival to take place on Shinnecock Nation land.”
Escape To New York is set for Aug. 5-7 at the sovereign Shinnecock Indian Reservation adjacent to Southampton, N.Y. Last year the Shinnecocks became the 565th federally recognized tribe.
The daily lineup for E2NY hasn’t been announced yet but we can tell you who will be performing either Friday or Saturday. Along with the previously announced headliners, the roster includes The Vaccines, The Psychedelic Furs, Best Coast, Au Revoir Simone, Chairlift, Lissy Trullie, Graffiti6, The Submarines, White Rabbits, The Static Jacks and The Postelles.
The Sunday main stage lineup and the weekend’s DJ lineup will be announced over the next few weeks.
In addition to great music, the festival also features traditional Shinnecock arts, crafts and food; installation and performance art; experimental theater; and high-end camping aka “Glamping.”
Fans will also get the chance to take part in what E2NY is calling the “world’s biggest brunch at a live music festival.”
Tickets are on sale now. Weekend passes are priced at $275. Single-day tickets are available for $100. Booking fees and transaction fees are not included in the quoted prices.
