More Dates For The Black Lips

The Black Lips have added another run of East Coast dates to the band’s summer schedule.

The group, which describes themselves as a “flower punk” band, have been touring up a storm ever since the guys began their 2011 routing in February by setting sail for the Bahamas on the “Bruise Cruise Festival.”

The new dates kick off July 27 at Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, N.C., and wrap with an Aug. 4 performance at Firebird in St. Louis.

Additional new gigs include shows in Baltimore at Ottobar (July 28); New York’s Bowery Ballroom (July 29); Hoboken, N.J., at Maxwell’s (July 30); Pittsburgh at Mr. Small’s Theatre (Aug. 1); and Lexington, Ky., at Buster’s (Aug. 2).

After touring the U.S. throughout March and April The Lips are now in the middle of a trek through Europe. Tonight the band plays “Les Nuits Botanique” in Brussels, Belgium. European shows are booked through a June 2 gig in Vienna, Austria.

Another U.S. trek is set for June 9-25, followed by a number of July shows in Japan, United Kingdom and Finland. All June dates feature Cerebral Ballzy.

Fans can also catch the group at Lollapalooza in Chicago Aug. 5, in addition to Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, N.C., Sept. 8.   

The Black Lips’ sixth studio album, Arabia Mountain, is set for release June 7. The album was produced by the band along with Mark Ronson and Deerhunter’s Lockett Pundt.
