Rock The Bells Announce 2011 Lineup

Rock The Bells is ringing in its eighth year with performances from Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nas, Cypress Hill and Erykah Badu.

The annual hip hop festival promoted by Guerilla Union takes place in late August and early September with two stops in California followed by events in New York and Boston. This year’s event kicks off Aug. 20 in Devore, Calif., at San Manual Amphitheater and then moves to Mountain View, Calif., at Shoreline Amphitheatre Aug. 27. The New York stop is set for Sept. 3 at Water Taxi Beach Governors Island. Although the Boston venue has not yet been announced we can tell you the event will take place Sept. 10.

Over 30 acts will perform although certain artists will only appear on select dates. Rock The Bells will once again feature a number of acts performing influential albums in their entirety. Hill will perform her 1998 debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Nas will show off his 1994 debut Illmatic.

Cypress Hill will perform Black Sunday, Black Star will play Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star, Raekwon + Ghostface will play Only Built For Cuban Linx, and Mobb Deep will show off The Infamous. Additional album performances include GZA/Genius playing Liquid Swords, Souls Of Mischief doing ’93 Til Infinity, and Black Moon playing Enta Da Stage.  

The lineup also includes Immortal Technique, Slaughterhouse, Mac Miller, Curren$y, Childish Gambino, Freddie GibbsBlu + Exile + Fashawn, and Roc Marciano. More acts will be announced.

Another announcement coming up is news about the Rock The Bells club tour, which will feature select Rock The Bells artists at intimate venues on dates surrounding the festival shows.

The Guerilla Union pre-sale begins June 3 at 10 a.m. PST. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 4.

    And look Blak, it's on Snopes so it MUST be true?  Haha.  So naive.  Let's say for one second she never made those comments.  So the comments that she made that she makes her music specifically for black people isn't racist?  What if U2 came out and say they make their music for white people?  I bet it would be racist then wouldn't it???  You'd have Jesse Jackson parading outside their studio wouldn't you?  Hypocrites.
