Prince Leaves California

12:01 PM Tuesday 6/14/11 |   |

The Artist Formerly Known As A Symbol ventures out of the Golden State for the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal.

June 24 and 25 are the first non-California dates to emerge for the Purple One since he announced his 21-show Los Angeles residency earlier this year. Along with multiple performances in the L.A. area, Prince recently appeared in Fresno and San Jose.

According to the jazz festival’s website, Prince approached organizers about doing a couple of gigs at Montreal's Metropolis. Although the venue’s capacity is 2,000, Prince wants people to dance. Therefore, the floor will be reserved for dancing and only 300 reserved seats in the balcony will be available.
