‘Escape To New York’ Nails Daily Lineups

02:01 PM Tuesday 6/14/11 | |

The art/music/interactive performance party scheduled for three summer days on Long Island reveals its daily agendas.

The word on Escape To New York is to “expect the unexpected.” From the mind of Secret Garden Party U.K. creator Fred Fellowes and taking place Aug. 5-7 on the Shinnecock Reservation near Southampton, N.Y., the festival includes installation and performance art, an experimental theater and great food. Organizers have referred to it as the first-ever “pop-up” destination community and indie experimental music and lifestyle festival to take place on Shinnecock Nation land. One thing is for sure – those three days in August will generate a lifetime’s worth of memories for festival-goers and tribal members alike.

Friday, Aug. 5 features headliner Patti Smith along with Best Coast, Chairlift, Lissy Trullie, The Postelles and The Static Jacks.

Saturday, Aug. 6 has Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros topping a lineup that includes The Vaccines, The Psychedelic Furs, White Rabbits, Au Revoir Simon, The Submarines and Graffiti6.

Of Montreal closes Escape To New York Sunday, Aug. 12. Also scheduled to perform on the festival’s last day are The Jolly Boys, Mates Of State, Reptar, Tiger Love and Savoir Adore.

But wait. There’s more. As in “more to come.” Like the lineup for the acoustic stage, which DJs are appearing, and what’s happening with the interactive art installations and theater.
