Steal Away With Thievery Corporation

02:01 PM Monday 6/27/11 |   |

The DJ duo puts on its traveling shoes beginning in August with a gig at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre followed by a tour in September.

Actually, it’s kind of misleading to describe Thievery Corporation as a duo. Although Rob Garza and Eric Hilton make up TC’s core, the group’s shows are often enhanced by several musicians, sometimes totaling more than 15 performers on stage.

Back in January 2010 Garza, Hilton & company took over the 9:30 Club in their hometown of Washington, D.C., for five sold-out nights. You’ll soon be able to relive that glorious week when “Thievery Corporation: Live At The 9:30 Club” is released on DVD Sept. 6.

Meanwhile, Thievery Corporation has partnered with MusicHype to give fans the chance to win VIP tickets to the Aug. 14 Red Rocks show, including airfare and hotel accommodations.

Touring in support of the June 28 release Culture Of Fear, Thievery Corporation’s September tour launches in Salt Lake City at the Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre Sept. 1. Other stops include Aspen at Snomass Resort Sept. 2; Chicago at the North Coast Festival followed by an after-show performance at the Congress Theatre Sept. 4; San Diego’s House Of Blues Sept. 7-8; Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre Sept. 9; Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan Sept. 10 and Oakland, Calif., at Fox Theater Sept. 16-17 before wrapping with two nights in Sunrise, Fla., at the Langerado Music Festival.

Some shows are already on sale. Visit ThieveryCorporation.com for more information.
