The Fray To ‘Rock The Green’

02:01 PM Tuesday 7/19/11 |   |

The Fray tops a lineup featuring Ben Folds, Fitz & The Tantrums, Michelle Branch, and Christina Perri when “Rock The Green” debuts in Milwaukee in September.

The one day event, billed as the “Midwest’s Near-Zero Waste Music Festival,” takes place Sept. 18 at Milwaukee’s Veterans Park. Also appearing will be local musician Evan Christian.

Presented by Veolia Environmental Services, Rock The Green’s prime directive is to “Entertain, Engage and Educate” people by “combining a world-class concert with an interactive sustainability experience.”

If that’s too many words for you to digest, the “near-zero waste” description might be easier to swallow. The Rock The Green website is filled with information about recycling, energy conservation and other ways to keep the planet green. The festival will be powered by solar, wind and bio-diesel powered generators.

“We’re thrilled to host this caliber of talent at Rock The Green’s inaugural music festival,” said Rock The Green founder Lindsay Stevens Gardner. “The show promises to entertain while showcasing all of the ways sustainability can play a major role in a large-scale music event without sacrificing the experience.”

Tickets are priced at $25 for general admission and $50 for premier viewing and go on sale July 23. Check out RockTheGreen.com for more information.
