First 2011 CMJ Marathoners Announced

The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival has rolled out the first round of its 2011 lineup including Portugal. The Man, CSS, Neon Indian, The Wombats and Wild Flag.

The annual festival, which first began in 1980, takes place Oct. 18-22. The event will once again be headquartered at New York University’s Greenwich Village campus with performances held in more than 80 nightclubs and theatres in NYC.

Additional artists announced include Metronomy, Talib Kweli, Givers, Zola Jesus, Class Actress, Dum Dum Girls, Art Vs. Science, Viva Brother, Davila 666, Eleanor Friedberger and EMA.

Attendees will also get to check out sets from Jean Grae, Pharoahe Monch, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, U.S. Royalty, Datarock, Kermit Ruffins, The Parlotones, Kvelertak, Sea Of Bees, Handsome Furs, and Memoryhouse.

With more than 1,300 live performances, you can bet that festival organizers aren’t joking when they say there’s “many more” acts still to be announced.

Along with more shows than you can handle, the festival also features over 70 panels with renowned speakers, an Entertainment Business Law Seminar, Q&As, meet and greets, mixers, and parties.

CMJ 2011 badges are on sale now. Fans will want to run, don’t walk, over to the festival website as quick as they can because the last early registration discounts of the summer end Aug. 29.

Full badges and full student badges get fans into hundreds of showcases, more than 70 panels, dozens of film festival movies and events, the Entertainment Law Seminar, exclusive parties, and the CMJ Exhibitors’ Loft and Registrants’ Lounge. The badges also come with a CMJ registration gift bag.

This year the festival is also offering a CMJ show pass. This cheaper option gets fans into all CMJ Music Marathon showcases and film festival screenings.
