The 7th annual event is set for March 17-18, 2012 at the Sun Life Stadium.
Don’t let the name of the festival fool you – in addition to jazz, the event features a mix of musical genres including R&B, neo-soul and world beat.
The 2011 festival attracted over 45,000 fans with a lineup that included Lauryn Hill, Gladys Knight, Al Jarreau, Jazmine Sullivan, Charlie Wilson, En Vogue, Lalah Hathaway and Branford Marsalis.
Over the years Jazz In The Garden has also featured performances from Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, John Legend, Robin Thicke, Wyclef, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Kenny G, Maze. Feat. Frankie Beverly, Chaka Khan, Chrisette Michele, Common, Anthony Hamilton and Roy Ayers.
The 2012 roster will be announced soon. In addition to an amazing list of acts, fans can also expect exotic foods and affordable ticket prices.
The festival made its debut in 2006. It was created by Miami Gardens Mayor Shirley Gibson to help boost the city’s economic growth. AEG Live is teaming up with the city to produce and showcase the 2012 festival.
“Jazz in the Gardens has become so much more than just a music festival,” Mayor Gibson said in a statement. “It’s become a reunion point for friends and family, a source of economic opportunity for small and large businesses and a vacation destination for adults seeking a break from the winter cold.
“This may be my last year as Mayor, but I know Jazz in the Gardens will continue to grow, and I look forward to attending the festival year after glorious year.”
Tickets will go on sale in December.
