David Wax Museum Video

03:01 PM Tuesday 10/4/11 |   |

Pollstar has the premiere of a new David Wax Museum video featuring the folk duo performing last month at the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Festival in Bristol, Tenn.

It’s been a very good year for David Wax and Suz Slezak. In 2010 the David Wax Museum was one of 150 bands entered in a contest where the grand prize was a performance slot at the Newport Folk Festival.

Winning the contest not only got David Wax Museum a slot on Newport’s stage but helped propel the band onward resulting in accolades from just about everyone who saw them. One year later David Wax Museum was welcomed back to Newport, not as contest winners but as an act on the lineup alongside such artists as Earl Scruggs, Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris and Justin Townes Earle.

NPR, Time and the Los Angeles Times are among the media outlets praising David Wax Museum's unique blend of Mexican and American folk melodies. Yes, it’s been an amazing ride for the folk duo from Boston since they won that contest.

The embedded private stream premiering on Pollstar.com depicts David Wax Museum’s Sept. 17 performance at the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Festival and includes Slezak talking about hearing their song on the radio while in a strange place.

Upcoming shows for David Wax Museum include York, Pa., at the Strand-Capitol Perf. Arts Center Oct. 6; Roseland, Va., at the “Festy Experience” at Devil’s Backbone Brewing Co. Oct. 8 and Charlotte, N.C., at the Evening Muse Oct. 13. For more information, check out DavidWaxMuseum.com.
