When Life Gives You Lemonheads Dates

05:06 PM Thursday 10/20/11 |   |

The Lemonheads don’t plan on hibernating this winter. The alternative rock band has just announced an additional 50 U.S. dates beginning in January.

The group also has a new album coming out. Hotel Sessions is set for release Feb. 7 on Hall of Records/Breath of Saltwater. The album documents a Sunday night frontman Evan Dando spent recording tunes in a hotel room in Bondi Beach, Australia, with just his acoustic guitar. The 14 tracks include songs featured on previous Lemonheads releases as well as some tunes that never made it onto an official album.

The 2012 tour features Dando along with guitarist Josh Lattanzi (The Candles) and drummer Brian Nolan (American Hi-Fi). The band will be performing The Lemonheads’ second album, 1992’s It’s A Shame About Ray, in its entirety on tour.

The trek begins Jan. 10 in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Knitting Factory, and wraps up with two shows in Hoboken, N.J., March 13-14 at Maxwell’s.

Dando and the guys will be stopping by Pittsburgh (Jan. 16); Grand Rapids, Mich. (Jan. 19); Indianapolis (Jan. 20); St. Louis (Jan. 28); Oklahoma City (Jan. 30); Albuquerque, N.M. (Feb. 4); Dallas (Feb. 9); Baton Rouge, La. (Feb. 14); Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 23); Greensboro, N.C. (March 2); and Baltimore (March 10).

Tickets for the Lemonheads’ postponed Oct. 5 show in Atlanta will be honored at the rescheduled Feb. 27 gig. The performance will still take place at The EARL.

Before the 2012 tour begins, The Lemonheads have to finish up another run of U.S. dates scheduled Oct. 21 through Nov. 6. After that the band heads to the United Kingdom for a tour Nov. 30 through Dec. 13.
