The all-star tribute concerts honoring Jimi Hendrix will return in 2012 featuring Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford, Buddy Guy, The Doors’ Robby Kreiger and Jonny Lang.

Experience Hendrix will visit 20 markets beginning with March 6 in North Bethesda, Md., at Music Center At Strathmore. Confirmed dates are booked through a March 24 gig at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater.

Of course Billy Cox will once again be there to pay tribute to his friend and former bandmate. The bassist is the only surviving member of both The Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Band Of Gypsys. The lineup also includes Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, David Hidalgo & Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos, Keb’ Mo, Eric Johnson, Living Colour, Chris Layton of Double Trouble, The Slide Brothers and Dweezil Zappa

“I’ve always been a great admirer of Jimi Hendrix,” said Zappa, who is making his Experience Hendrix tour debut. “My dad told me some great stories about playing with him. Jimi’s ability to express himself so completely with an electric guitar is very inspiring to me. I’m honored to be invited to participate in this tour and I’m really looking forward to playing with everyone!”

The daily lineup has not yet been announced.

To Trainarollin:  Get a life.  If that's your only memory, you must be a helluva blues fan.  Billy Cox is an all-time great bass player who barely has 2 nickels to rub together.  With the great music he's provided for 50 years he deserves to charge fans and more.  Wish I had the opportunity to meet him.

My memory was of three hours of astounding musicianship. I do not visit merch tables; do not have the time or interest. I am there for the live music and nothing less.

My memory of last years show was watching Billy Cox  at the merch table charging fans to have their photo taken with  and charging them for autographs.

@theblairbunch: Uhhhhh.....  And who proofed your comment?  Just because Hubert recently died doesn't mean he was not a PAST special guest.
