Mishka Has Band, Will Tour

11:01 AM Monday 12/19/11 |   |

Having last toured in a solo acoustic setting, the roots reggae artist will take a band with him when he launches a winter road trip in February.

  • Mishka At The Roxy

“I’m very non-political in terms of my philosophy on life. Life is a lot bigger than politics.”

Mishka will be touring in support of his latest album, Talk About, on jk livin. The album was co-produced by Butch Walker (Pink, Fall Out Boy) and the label’s founder, Matthew McConaughey.

Yes, you read that right. Actor McConaughey has his own indie label. In fact, Mishka was the first artist to sign with the imprint.

Mishka’s winter run begins in Orlando, at The Social Feb. 9. Other stops include Miami at Grassroots Feb. 10, Tampa’s Orpheum Theatre Feb. 11; Asheville, N/C., at the Grey Eagle Feb. 15; Atlanta at Smith’s Olde Bar Feb. 17 and Wilmington, N.C., at the Soapbox.

During an interview in 2010, Mishka told Pollstar about fans posting videos of themselves playing his songs, describing it as a “continuation” of the music.

“It’s really inspiring to see that,” Mishka said. “That music can be a continuation. It’s not just something you do once. You just don’t write a song and it’s done. Someone is going to take it and put their twist on it. I like it.”
