Polyphonic Spree: You + Me

05:01 PM Wednesday 1/11/12 |   |

The Polyphonic Spree has booked U.S. dates for the first leg of its “You + Me” tour featuring stops at intimate venues where the psychedelic pop group got its start over 10 years ago.

The band, which currently has a lineup featuring 21 musicians and choir members, put out its first new tunes since their 2007 album, The Fragile Army, in November as part of the re-launch of Good Record Recordings. The label, which is headed up by The Polyphonic Spree’s co-leaders, Tim DeLaughter and Julie Doyle, was re-launched as a singles label with a roster that includes DeLaughter’s old band, Tripping Daisy, and his latest project, Preteen Zenith.

New Fumes, the side project of Polyphonic Spree/Flaming Lips touring member Daniel Huffman, also released tracks on Good Record Recordings along with Pilotdrift, Binary Sunrise and Sweet Lee Morrow.

The You + Me tour begins in Tulsa, Okla., at The Marquee Feb. 6. Stops include Norman, Okla., at Opolis Feb. 7; Little Rock, Ark., at the Revolution Music Room Feb. 8; Atlanta’s Center Stage Feb. 10; Tallahassee, Fla., at The Moon Feb. 11; Houston at Fitzgerald’s Feb. 14; and Austin’s La Zona Rosa Feb. 15. The last date on the routing is Feb. 16 at Dallas’ Sons Of Hermann Hall.

New Fumes will support the February dates.

East and West Coast dates will be announced soon.

I remember one of their earlier shows where there were more people on stage than in the audience. It was super fun!
