Coachella For Locals

03:01 PM Friday 1/13/12 |   |

Goldenvoice knows how to keep the natives happy.

Although Coachella and Stagecoach in Indio, Calif., are sold out, the concert promoter is releasing 1,000 passes to each event for locals only.

One pass per resident at zip codes encompassing Thousand Palms to the Salton Sea will be available with proof of residency in the form of a California driver’s license or ID card.

Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is being held over the course of two weekends April 13-15 and April 20-22 at Indio’s Empire Polo Club. Both weekends feature the same lineup including Radiohead, The Black Keys, Pulp, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg.

Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival takes place at the venue April 27-29. Acts include Alabama, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers and Chris Isaak. The daily lineup hasn’t been announced yet.

Tickets were easy to get way back in June and with an installment plan. For three days then they sat there and were easy to pick up. So you can't say there were no opportunity.

The number of scalped tickets is probably 2% of the 150,000 weekend passes that were sold. Even without one scalped ticket, Coachella will sell out. Glastonbury has 115,000 ticket which you have to register for and have your photo/ID on the ticket. 300,000 people applied last year.

So guys you have to face facts that you need to buy tickets in June and not procrastinate till Jan to find out the line-up. There is no entitlement to tickets.

What a joke! Come up with a system where the real fans aren't left out and all the tickets aren't  at secondary outlets or on the internet for ridiculous prices! Or at least get rid of your policy where the artists cant play in LA during the time of coachella so for those of us that didnt get tickets can see the band play the week inbetween the coachella weekends. Cmon Goldenvoice...Step up Punk!
