Kid Cudi Proves Why He’s Called Mr. Rager

03:01 PM Tuesday 1/24/12 |   |

Kid Cudi says he’s not sorry for trashing the stage at this past weekend’s Heatwave Music Festival in Melbourne, Australia – and that he’ll do it again.

Australian blog ToneDeaf.com reports that the festival started three hours later than scheduled, resulting in Tech N9ne’s set being shortened from 90 minutes to 50 minutes and Kid Cudi’s time on stage cut in half.

Kid Cudi was apparently so displeased about this that he unleashed his frustration on the stage equipment. YouTube videos of the hip hop artist’s set show Kid Cudi ending his performance by knocking over lights and speakers.

Cudi explained his behavior with a post on his Tumblr blog, Cud Life.

“If my set is EVER cut short at any show, im trashing the stage. Not out of anger, it takes a lot to get me furious nowadays, but out of principle. The fans always deserve a full set at all shows, especially when they spend their hard earned money on expensive tickets. A lot of artist wouldnt do what I did in Australia, but I will. Spread the word. No matter the circumstance, cut my set short, im breaking shit. And next time im startin a riot. Me and my fans. Cause promoters will sometime take advantage of the artists, and u gotta let em know what time it is. Cutting nobody any slack.”

He signed the post, dated Jan. 23, as “Rager,” a nod to his second studio album, 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.
