Dropkick Murphys & St. Paddy’s Day

12:01 PM Wednesday 1/25/12 | |

How will those Irish-American punksters collectively known as Dropkick Murphys celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? The Massachusetts-based band will play not one, but two shows in Lowell, Mass., and has tapped State Radio to perform at one of the gigs.

Set to play Dropkick Murphy’s matinee gig at Tsongas Arena, the afternoon set will mark State Radio’s only confirmed 2012 East Coast date (so far). The band is currently promoting its new single “Roadway Broken,” which was written to help out those affected by the 2012 Haitian earthquake.  Check out StateRadio.com for the download.

The day show will also include Australian band Ramshackle Army opening the show and an acoustic solo performance by Frank Turner.

Fans going to the night show will get a slightly different lineup preceding Dropkick Murphys. Sure, Turner is still on the bill, but it won’t be a replay of the afternoon’s solo acoustic show. Instead, Turner will be performing with his band the Sleeping Souls.

Leading up to the two St. Patrick’s Day extravaganzas, the Dropkick Murphys will release Going Out In Style: Fenway Park Bonus Edition which includes an expanded version of the band’s 2011 album. The bonus edition also features Live From Fenway, a recording of the band’s two September gigs at Boston’s Fenway Park along with a download of the filmed concert.
