04:31 PM Tuesday 2/14/12 |   |

Creativeman Productions announced the first set of acts for this year’s Summer Sonic festival, which will be Aug. 18-19 simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka.

The headliners are Green Day and Rihanna, followed by Sigur Ros, New Order, Adam Lambert, Death Cab for Cutie, The Cardigans, Passion Pit, Gym Class Heroes, Grouplove, SBTRKT, The Knux and Iceage.

Speaking of New Order, member Peter Hook will be in Japan four months earlier with a group called The Light to perform songs by his earliest band, Joy Division.

They will be part of the Hacienda Oiso Festival in the beach resort town of Oiso about 90 minutes south of Tokyo. The headliner will be another Manchester band, The Charlatans.

The festival makes up for a similarly themed concert that was scheduled for the spring of 2011 but was canceled after the March earthquake and tsunami.
