The famed artist/producer/genius will take over the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, for what just may be the best five days you spend this summer.
Scheduled for July 23-27 “Todd Rundgren’s Musical Revival Camp” will include Mark Volman whose lineage includes The Turtles, Frank Zappa’s Mothers Of Invention and Flo & Eddie. R.E.M.’s Peter Buck will also be there as well as a third high-profile guest to be named later.
What’s in store for those who plunge into the woods for five days of Rundgren & Co.? Of course, there are plenty of music-related events including workshops, performances and seminars. But the Musical Revival Camp is also promoted as a mountain retreat that promises gourmet meals and camp activities. There will also be some nighttime jam sessions featuring Rundgren along with bassist Kasim Sulton, guitarist Jesse Gress and drummer Gregg Bendian.
How will Todd Rundgren’s Musical Revival Camp differ from last year’s event of the same name? Rundgren explains:
“We are amending our concept this year to focus on the pleasures of the season. We shall take that hike which we were rained out of last summer. We shall party at the pool as we neglected to do. There will be the laying on of hands (by professionals), the volleying of the ball, the tubing of the Esopus [Creek] and perhaps even the dancing of the square.”
Camp accommodations include “primitive” campsites, country cottages and b&b-style guest rooms as well as “luxury camping” in a yurt. There is no cell-phone reception in the area, making it the perfect summer getaway.
