More “Hot August Night” Greek Dates for Neil Diamond, James McCartney to play Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club and albums by James Taylor and Stevie Wonder get hi-fi makeovers.
Exploring The Cavern
James McCartney will play the same venue his father once did a half-century ago when he headlines Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club April 3.
The 34-year-old son of Linda and Sir Paul McCartney will perform at the Cavern during a three-day sweep through England and Ireland, playing London’s Borderline April 2 and Dublin’s Whelan’s April 4. The shows are in support of The Complete EP Collection (Engine Company).
When McCartney walks into the Cavern Club he won’t be seeing the exact same venue where The Beatles racked up almost 300 performances from 1961 to ’63. The club was rebuilt in 1984 using most of the bricks from the original structure.
The club also acknowledges its place in rock history, allowing fans to stand on its famous stage in front of a wall decked out with the names of famous bands that have played the establishment.
James Taylor, Stevie Wonder Like You’ve Never Heard Them Before
Today’s a good day for fans of James Taylor and Stevie Wonder. Audio Fidelity has released high-fidelity versions of Taylor’s 1971 album Mud Slide Slim And The Blue Horizon and Wonder’s 1973 LP Innervisions.

Yes, there are plenty of memories in the Taylor re-issue. Mud Slide Slim includes the chart-topping “You’ve Got A Friend” written by Carole King plus the Top-40 hit “Long Ago and Far Away” as well as “Hey Mister, That’s Me Up On The Jukebox” and “You Can Close Your Eyes.”
Innervisions is loaded with now-classic Wonder recordings, including “Living For The City,” “Higher Ground,” and “Don’t You Worry About A Thing.”
While both albums are getting Audio Fidelity’s 24-Karat Gold CD treatment and will be available as limited, numbered editions, the total number of discs being released differs. Due to contractual restrictions, only 3,000 copies of Innervisions are available while Mud Slide Slim gets Audio Fidelity’s standard 5,000 copy release.

More Hot August Nights
Come on, fess up. Did you really think Neil Diamond would limit his 40th anniversary Hot August Night concerts to only two nights at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre?
Released in late 1972, Hot August Night wasn’t just a best seller, but is often praised as one of the greatest live albums ever.
In late February the Greek Theatre announced two anniversary shows – Aug. 11 & 16 – which quickly sold out.
Now fans have additional chances to relive Hot August Night. Two more dates have been added for the Greek – Aug. 18 & 23.
