Tenacious D is about to go on a global outing in support of the band’s first new studio album in six years. Landing in stores May 15, Rize Of the Fenix was recorded in the garage behind producer John Kimbrough’s Los Angeles home. Foo Fighter Dave Grohl appears on the album along with longtime Tenacious D musicians John Spiker and John Konesky.

While the band has a few U.S. May dates followed by a run through Europe, the summer stretch kicks off at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium June 23. Other stops include New York City at Hammerstein Ballroom June 28; Boston’s Bank Of America Pavilion July 2; Detroit at The Fillmore July 6; Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom July 7; Morrison, Colo., near Denver at Red Rocks Amphitheatre July 26 and San Diego at SDSU Open Air Theater July 29.

Ticket sales for select markets begin March 30. Visit TenaciousD.com for more info.  Meanwhile, check out this video describing what the band has been up to during the past six years.  And be sure to watch out for cameo appearances by Grohl, Jimmy Kimmel, Tim Robbins, Maria Menounos, Josh Groban, Yoshiki and Val Kilmer.
