No stranger to online controversies, Courtney Love stirred things up when she tweeted via her private Twitter account earlier this week that Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl hit on her daughter, Francis Bean Cobain.

“I hear from frannies roommate that @davegrohl hit on frances, and that she was curious,” Love tweeted, according to Gawker.com. “I’m not mad at her, him I am about to shoot, dead.”

Love also claimed that a driver told her that Grohl had his “hands all over her [Francis].”

Of course, Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana, the band Courtney Love’s late husband and Francis’ father Kurt Cobain fronted up until his death in 1994. So there’s a connection between Love, her daughter and Grohl that goes farther back than this week’s news cycle.

Grohl issued a denial almost immediately, calling Love’s accusations “upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue.”

As it turned out, Cobain wasn’t too happy about her mother’s latest online antics. The 19-year-old issued a few choice words of her own, but relied on a publicist instead of Twitter to get her message across.

“While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn,” Cobain said in a statement. “I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother.”
