System Of A Down is headlining a two-week North American tour in August featuring Deftones as the band’s special guest.

The first date on the itinerary is Aug. 2 in Camden, N.J., at the Susquehanna Bank Center, followed by an Aug. 4 gig in Holmdel, N.J., at the PNC Bank Arts Center.

The rockers will also hit up Wantagh, N.Y., at Nikon At Jones Beach Theater Aug. 5; Washington, D.C., at Verizon Center Aug. 7; Mansfield, Mass., at Comcast Center Aug. 9; and Clarkston, Mich., at the DTE Energy Music Theatre Aug. 14.

System Of A Down and Deftones have also booked two festival appearances in Canada – Aug. 11 at Montreal’s Heavy MTL and Aug. 12 at Toronto’s Heavy T.O. The tour closes with an Aug. 15 performance in Rosemont, Ill., at the Allstate Arena.

The tour is the first live outing of the year for the Deftones, which has been busy recording its seventh studio album. The band is once again teaming up with
producer Nick Raskulinecz, who produced 2010’s Diamond Eyes in addition to his work with Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters and Rush. The new album is due out on Reprise Records later this year.

System Of A Down started its year with a number of performances at Australia’s Soundwave Festival. The band’s most recent release is 2005’s Hypnotize.

Tickets for the festival appearances are on sale now. A fan presale begins May 1. The general onsale for Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Boston and Detroit launches May 4. Tickets go on sale for Holmdel Township, Wantagh and Chicago May 5.
