Grimes, Koan Sound and Tokimonsta will also be onboard the private passenger train, which will make stops at six shows in the provinces between July 13-22. The Full Flex Express shows will feature performances on multiple stages, with festival organizers expecting crowds in the tens of thousands.
Full Flex Express was inspired by the 1970 Festival Express tour, which brought Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead and The Band to Canadian audiences via train. Last year Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes and Old Crow Medicine Show journeyed on their own train tour with stops in California, Arizona, Texas and Louisiana.
“We were really inspired when Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe and those guys did a train tour,” Skrillex said. “We wanted to do it as well and share this music with people across Canada. Just to do it and have fun.”
The Full Flex Express begins in Toronto July 13 and rambles across the provinces until its final July 22 gig in Vancouver. Each of the artists mentioned above appear on all of the dates, with the exception of Grimes, who will not be at the RBC Bluesfest show.
