The Shins Add September & October Shows

05:01 PM Wednesday 5/30/12 |   |

The Shins’ 2012 world tour is extended into the fall with nearly a dozen new U.S. dates, including a show in Albuquerque, N.M., where the indie rock band got its start.

The trek around the globe is in support of The Shins’ fourth studio album, Port of Morrow, which was released in March on frontman James Mercer’s Aural Aporthecary label and Columbia Records. The album is the band’s first new music since 2007’s Wincing the Night Away.

The new fall dates begin Sept. 22 at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre. The route includes a Canadian gig at Vancouver’s Orpheum Sept. 25; San Diego’s SDSU Open Air Theatre Sept. 30; Albuquerque’s Kiva Auditorium Oct. 4; Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium Oct. 7 and Houston’s House Of Blues Oct. 10.

The last stop is Oct. 13 at Austin City Limits at Austin’s Zilker Park.

In addition to the new dates, The Shins announced that Mark Watrous will be joining the band on the road in July on guitar and lap steel.

Pre-sale tickets for the U.S. dates are available through Gilt City and include a limited edition, autographed lithograph. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, June 1.
