A Chance To Sit On Stage At A Pearl Jam Show

02:01 PM Thursday 6/14/12 |   |

In what is being called “an unprecedented opportunity,” Pearl Jam fans have the chance to win tickets to sit on stage while the band performs in September via U.S. Senator Jon Tester’s “Best Seats in the World” sweepstakes.

The show, which takes place Sept. 30 in Missoula, Mont., at Adams Event Center, is also significant because it’s Pearl Jam’s only scheduled 2012 U.S. non-festival date.

In addition to watching the show from recliners on stage, the grand prize sweepstakes winner and a guest will also get to attend a pre-show meet & greet with Tester and members of the band, as well as have dinner with the senator and Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament. The prize package also comes with hotel accommodations and round-trip transportation within the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

To enter the “Best Seats in the World” sweepstakes, simply donate $10, or any other amount, at JonTester.com. The official contest rules note that contributions will not improve your chances of winning. You can also enter the contest without contributing. Entries must be received by Aug. 24.

Tester, who is running for re-election for a second term, and bassist Jeff Ament go way back.  The Democratic U.S. Senator and organic farmer still farms land outside Big Sandy, Mont., where he and Ament both grew up.

Huffington Post reminds us that University of Montana’s Montanan magazine posted a story a few years ago which reports that Ament was the first person Tester called when he decided to run for Senate and that Ament’s father was the barber who gave him his trademark flattop. Pearl Jam performed in Missoula in 2005 in support of Tester’s 2006 campaign.

“Jon is a hardworking Montana farmer who has never forgotten who he works for or where he comes from, and he brings the responsible leadership America needs to the U.S. Senate,” Ament said in a statement posted on Pearl Jam’s website. “Pearl Jam looks forward to joining folks from across Montana in support of Jon to build momentum and re-elect him in November.”

A limited number of VIP packages to the show, priced between $250-$500 and including the meet & greet and dinner, were also offered via Tester’s website and have already sold out.

A pre-sale for Pearl Jam Ten Club members began earlier this week. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 22.
