Carlos Santana Sick, Postpones Shows

10:01 AM Wednesday 8/22/12 | |

Carlos Santana isn’t going to make it to his three shows in Florida over the weekend because he is ill. The guitarist told fans all about what he was going through in a Facebook post titled “Cold chills, chicken skin, the cold shakes (flow of consciousness).”

The Santana shows were scheduled Aug. 24-25 at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood and Aug. 26 at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa.

An announcement on Hard Rock Live’s website simply says the “shows have been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control.” The gigs are being rescheduled and the new dates are expected to be announced soon. You can either hold onto your tickets to use at the new dates or get a refund at the point of purchase.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Live Nation said late Tuesday that Sunday’s show at 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre was called off because “Carlos Santana was ill and unable to perform.” A new date will be announced and tickets will be honored at the new show.

Santana’s next scheduled gig is an Aug. 31 appearance at the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

Here is the flow of consciousness poem the Latin rocker posted on his Facebook page Monday:

Cold chills, chicken skin, the cold shakes,
Today I learned that your brain tells your body
To create cold chills so you can sweat a lot
To prevent you from having a seizure
when you sweat you cool down your body temperature
Especially if you have a very high hot fever
My way of life ( music ) is not a profession
Nor a job, it is a gift, like being anointed
By GOD to yes... HEAL,, with the divine medicine
Of sound resonance vibration
To give and receive cold chills
While you play is essential to A real musician
To touch people's hearts from the center of your heart
It's a must DO situation, endeavor, task, duty, experience
This way you immediately rearrange molecular structure
of the listener, you help them be free from their illusions
They drop the luggage, baggage, hang ups, resentments,
Unforgiveness and they cry, laugh, dance, scream and holler
I am free thank GOD all mighty
Free at last free at last
>From the fever of collective illusions and from self imposed fear
Chills of joy , cold chills of spiritual / sensual ecstasy
Carlos
