Fun. On ‘Reverb Campus Consciousness Tour’

11:01 AM Tuesday 9/4/12 |   |

The indie rock band announces a partnership with non-profit Reverb and for-profit Ben & Jerry’s to play colleges while promoting LGBTQ equality. Launching with a special show in Maine on Halloween, stops include campuses in Pennsylvania, Vermont, Michigan, Delaware, New York and Missouri.

The fall outing marks the second year in a row for fun. on the “Reverb Campus Consciousness Tour.” The trek begins in Portland, Maine, Oct. 31 where the tour will raise awareness about that state’s same-sex marriage initiative on the Nov. 6 ballot.

All shows will give fans opportunities to connect with their campus LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer) organizations. The tour will also give out information on how people can join the “fight to get corporate money out of politics.” To sweeten the deal, fans will receive a free sample of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.

Here’s the routing:

Oct. 31 – Portland, Maine, State Theatre
Nov. 1 – East Stroudsburg, Pa., East Stroudsburg University
Nov. 2 – Middlebury, Vt., Middlebury College
Nov. 3 – Rochester, N.Y., Rochester Institute Of Technology
Nov. 5 – Newark, Del., University Of Delaware
Nov. 14 – Grand Rapids, Mich., Hoogenboom Center
Nov. 15 – Chicago, Ill., Riviera Theatre
Nov. 16 – Columbia, Mo., Jesse Auditorium
Nov. 17 – Decorah, Iowa, Luther College
Nov. 18 – Elmhurst, Ill., Elmhurst College

“Last year we had an amazing experience on the Campus Consciousness Tour with Reverb,” said fun.’s Nate Ruess. “Colleges are fertile ground for activism and change. It’s exactly where we need to be as we launch our support for LGBTQ equality.”

While the Chicago Nov. 15 show is sold out, presales for other dates begin Sept. 5. For more information, click here for the Campus Consciousness Tour website and here for fun.’s Internet home.
