‘Sonar’ On The Move

Barcelona’s international festival of music and new media art crosses the Atlantic for an eight-city tour beginning in Chicago on Halloween, promising live performances combined with DJ sets and the “the most cutting edge artists in electronic music.

The first Sonar On Tour will feature Die Antwoord, Azari & III, Seth Troxler, Paul Kalkbrenner, Tiga, Gesaffelstein and Nic Fanciulli.

Established in 1994, Sonar’s mission was all about celebrating the avant-garde and experimentation as it pushed the envelope by mixing artistry with entertainment while exploring the boundaries of electronic music as well as the genre’s culture.

Here’s the tour:

Oct. 31 – Chicago, Ill., Congress Theater
Nov. 1 – Toronto, Ontario, Sound Academy
Nov. 2 – New York, N.Y., Roseland Ballroom
Nov. 3 – Montreal, Quebec, Metropolis
Nov. 4 – Boston, Mass., House Of Blues Boston Presented By Foxwoods Resort Casino
Nov. 7 – Denver, Colo., Fillmore Auditorium
Nov. 9 – Oakland, Calif., Fox Theater
Nov. 10 – Los Angeles, Calif., Shrine Auditorium & Expo Center

Gesaffelstein only appears on the Denver, Toronto and Chicago dates. Tiga appears on all dates except Oakland and Los Angeles.

While we’re talking about Sonar, next year’s blowout in Barcelona is scheduled for June 13-15. You’ll also find Sonar in South America when the festival plays Sao Paulo, Brazil May 24-25.
