Founded and curated by R.E.M. guitarist Buck, the 10-day festival in Todos Santos, Mexico, features eight days of music on the patio of Hotel California, plus a concert in the town plaza and one on the beach. Also appearing will be Scott McCaughey’s The Minus 5, Joseph Arthur, Chuck Prophet’s Mission Express and Mexican indie band Torreblanca as well as The Elected, Kevn Kinney, Jon Langford and Ken Stringfellow.
While some performance days and set times have yet to be established, Hitchcock and The Minus 5 will appear at the Hotel California Jan. 10-12, The Poises and Wynn and the Baseball Project 17-18 & 20 and Escovedo and Arthur Jan. 24-25.
You can also catch Wynn and the Baseball Project when the group performs with The Posies at Punta Lobos Beach Jan. 19.
And be sure to check out the Todos Santos Town Plaza where Escovedo, Arthur, Torreblanca, and Prophet & The Mission Express will be performing Jan. 26.
“This festival is the most fun I have ever had playing music with the chance to perform at an amazing location with some of my favorite musicians,” Buck said. “It is an incredibly entertaining way to raise funds that give local children more educational opportunities and share a diversity of musical talent.”
Benefitting the Palapa Society and its efforts to develop and administer scholarships and educational programs for children, prices for individual events differ depending on venues. For example, $2 will buy you a general admission pass for the Hotel California gigs but if VIP is the only way you fly, then the cost is $15. General admission for the Punta Lobos Beach show Jan. 19 is free but VIP goes for $75 and includes a complimentary buffet, beer and margaritas.
Tickets for all Todos Santos Music Festival events go on sale Oct. 15. Click here for more details.
