Jimmy Herring + Victor Wooten = Co-Bill

12:01 PM Wednesday 9/19/12 |   |

The headline says it all as Widespread Panic’s Jimmy Herring partners with bassist extraordinaire Victor Wooten for a co-headlining adventure beginning Nov. 1 in South Carolina.

The result is a tour packed full of fine music and musicianship with each artist having new music to support. For Herring, a founding member of Aquarium Rescue Unit, Project Z and Jazz Is Dead, it’s his latest release, Subject To Change Without Notice, which dropped in August through Abstract Logix Records.

Then there’s Wooten’s two, that’s right, two releases. Words and Tones as well as his instrumental version of Sword & Stone will be released Sept. 25 on VIX records.

Travel-wise, the tour is playing mostly theaters on the East Coast and in Southern markets. With more dates to be announced, here’s the itinerary as it stands today:

Nov. 1 – Charleston, S.C., Charleston Music Hall
Nov. 2 – Athens, Ga., Georgia Theatre
Nov. 3 – Charlotte, N.C., Neighborhood Theatre
Nov. 4 – Durham, N.C., Carolina Theatre
Nov. 5 – Asheville, N.C., The Orange Peel
Nov. 7 – Wilmington, N.C., Greenfield Lake Amphitheatre
Nov. 8 – Richmond, Va., The National
Nov. 9 – Falls Church, Va., The State Theatre
Nov. 10 – Bethlehem, Pa., ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks (“Steel Jam”)
Nov. 11 – New York, N.Y., B.B. King Blues Club
Nov. 14 – Boston, Mass., Wilbur Theatre
Nov. 15 – Norwalk, C.T., Norwalk Concert Hall
Nov. 16 – Concord, N.H., Capitol Center For The Arts
Nov. 17 – Buffalo, N.Y., Perf. Arts Center At Rockwell Hall
Nov. 18 – Albany, N.Y., The Egg

Looking for quotes? We got ’em. First up is Herring.

“I’m really looking forward to doing this tour with Victor Wooten and his band,” the guitarist said. “He has literally blown me away every time I’ve heard him and I’ve heard him a lot. He is incredibly versatile and always in top form. Victor never has an ‘off’ night. He’s an innovator and we’re honored to get to play with him.”

And now some words from the Wooten side of the co-headlining equation.

“I’m honored to be touring with my friend and great musician Jimmy Herring,” Wooten said. “Our bands should complement each other very well. I’m a fan of everything he does and am really looking forward to seeing what we can do together.”

Some shows are already on sale. For more information click here for Jimmy Herring’s website and here for Victor Wooten’s Internet home.
