Honoring Little Stevie

02:01 PM Friday 10/12/12 |   |

Steven Van Zandt will be the man of the evening next week when the E Street Band guitarist, actor and all-around nice guy is honored during Little Kids Rock’s 10th anniversary “Right To Rock Celebration” in New York City.

Scheduled for Oct. 16 at the Hammerstein Ballroom and co-chaired by his better half, namely actress Maureen Van Zandt along with E Street drummer Max Weinberg, the evening will include performances by Elvis Costello, Dion DiMucci, Tom Morello, Darlene Love, Southside Johnny, Kris Allen, Ruben Blades, Gary U.S. Bonds, Michael Des Barres, Michael Johns, Jesse Malin, Jake Clemons, NYC Hit Squad and more.

If the “more” is an indication that Van Zandt’s longtime New Jersey buddy Bruce Springsteen will make an appearance, well, nobody is talking.

However, the evening will definitely be rooted in E Street memories, especially because Van Zandt will be presented with the “Big Man Of The Year” award, established to honor Clarence Clemons’ legacy. Past recipients of the award are Lady Gaga and, of course, Clemons himself.

Best of all, the evening, which includes live and silent auctions, will help Little Kids Rock continue its mission to bring musical educations to disadvantaged children across the nation – something Van Zandt has taken a personal interest in.

“Putting instruments in [children’s hands] is empowering,” Van Zandt said after he personally delivered guitars to Little Kids Rock students in Brooklyn last year. “We’re the only country in the world that thinks art is a luxury. It’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity of life.”

Although high-end sponsorships are already sold out, balcony seats are still available. Right To Rock is sponsored by House Of Marley and 1Love. Click here for more information.
