The ninth installment of Dorf’s annual tribute shows will also feature performances by The Waterboys and Talib Kweli with The Roots serving as the evening’s house band. Expect more artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

As with all of Dorf’s tribute concerts, which, so far have raised more than $700,000, proceeds from The Music Of Prince will benefit music education programs for kids. This year’s recipients include The American Symphony Orchestra’s Music Notes, Church Street School of Music, Young Audiences New York, FIKS (Fixing Instruments For Kids In Schools), Little Kids Rock and the Center for Arts Education.

Prince is the latest artist to be honored by Dorf’s annual tribute series. Past honorees include The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell, Elton John, R.E.M. and The Who.
